- Is a Polypad coin the same as betting on Polymarket?
- Partly. Part of a coin’s value is real Polymarket shares of its outcome, so it rises and falls with the odds and pays out with the result. The rest is the coin’s own market: demand on its curve or pool. You can make or lose money on either part. See How a coin works.
- Why did a coin’s price change when nobody traded it?
- Because the odds moved. A coin’s dollar price is its price in shares times the live Polymarket price of its outcome, so every coin on an outcome moves with that market.
- What happens to my coin when the market resolves?
- If the outcome happened, the shares behind the coin are worth $1 and the coin keeps trading. If not, they are worth $0 and so is the coin’s backing; you can still sell it to its curve or pool. See Resolution and disputes.
- Can I still trade after the market’s end date?
- Yes, and buy too. A coin trades both ways past its end date and through a live game, for as long as Polymarket trades the market. Buying only waits for the hour or so it takes Polypad to settle once Polymarket has closed the market; selling never stops. If the outcome happened, the coin then trades as usual.
- Why can’t I buy right now?
- Almost always because the market is settling: Polymarket has closed it and its result takes effect an hour after Polypad records it. A thin book or a fast move never stops a buy, it only prices it higher. See When a trade is refused.
- Why does my wallet ask for an approval?
- The first buy asks you to let the Router spend your USDG, and the first sale of each coin asks the same for that coin. Both approvals are unlimited, so you sign each once and every later trade is a single confirmation. You can withdraw them at any time.
- Who holds the shares behind the coins?
- Polypad’s desk, in its account on Polymarket. It buys and sells shares within seconds of every trade so that shares held match pTokens issued, and the numbers are public. See How backing works.
- What does it cost?
- 1.65% a trade while a coin is on its curve and 1.25% after it graduates, both including the 0.25% exchange spread. Launching is free. See Fees and rewards.
- How do creators earn?
- 0.7% of every trade on the curve and 0.5% in the pool, for the life of the coin, paid in the outcome’s shares. Creators can choose at launch to pass part or all of it to holders.
- What is graduation?
- When a coin’s bonding curve sells out (about $6,000 raised), it moves into a Uniswap v4 pool in the same transaction, with its liquidity locked forever. Trading carries on there, at a lower fee.
- Can I trade Polypad coins elsewhere?
- Yes. Coins are standard ERC-20 tokens, graduated coins trade in a public Uniswap v4 pool, and terminals can let their users trade through Polypad’s API. See Contracts and API.
- Are there two coins with the same name?
- There can be: names, tickers and images are not unique. A coin is its address. Check the address and the creator before buying.
- Is Polypad affiliated with Polymarket or Robinhood?
- No. Polypad is an independent project. It builds on Polymarket’s markets and Robinhood Chain, but is not run, endorsed or audited by either.
